We are THRILLED to announce that KitchenAid has joined us as a premier sponsor of MIXED! As you are probably aware, both Susan and Paula are KitchenAid Ambassadors, and couldn’t be happier to be working with the brand on their first conference.
So what does this mean for YOU, the MIXED Attendee?
All kinds of good stuff!
First and foremost – OPENING NIGHT!
After your check in and dinner, you’ll head over to the “KitchenAid Mixer” – food, music, fun, and PRIZES! Get to know your fellow bloggers, make some new friends, and walk away the WINNER OF… well – we can’t quite tell you that yet! (So many good things it’s not even funny.) KitchenAid will be making their presence known throughout the conference (you’ll just love them as much as we do)…and of course – there’s gonna be a goodie in the swag bag as well as ALL those OTHER prizes!
BUT – you need to buy your MIXED ticket before you can win, so get on it!
Need more incentive?
Our friends at KitchenAid are giving ONE OF YOU a 7 Quart Stand Mixer, in your choice of available colors, JUST for buying your ticket by August 13! This machine will change your baking world, I promise you that! If you’ve already purchased your ticket, of course, you are in the running…but if not, get on it quick! Just head over and buy that ticket before they are all gone…
What are you waiting for? Get REGISTERED ; )
Can’t wait to see you there!
A 3-hour intimate and intense styling workshop with professional photographer (and author of Plate to Pixel) Helene Dujardin and professional food stylist Tami Hardeman. Taking place at 10 am Friday morning (11/22/13) before MIXED officially starts, we’ll briefly chat about our approach to food photography and styling… then dive right in to some hands-on workshopping. We’ll be working through a “challenging” subject – think cocktails, sandwiches or an Indian curry – all the way from reading the recipe to how light, angle and your choice of props change the look and feel of your dish. Helene and Tami will be on-hand to help you with your shots…and you’ll have access to their surfaces, props and dishes for your images.
You’ll need to bring your camera – whatever you normally shoot food with is best. This is *not* a photography/”how to work your camera” session – this will be strictly hands-on so basic knowledge of your camera & settings is necessary. If you have a tripod, bringing it with you will be helpful as you’ll be playing photographer and food stylist at the same time.
You *must* be an attendee of MIXED to be a part of the workshop. There will only be 8 spots available for this workshop – once they’re gone, they’re gone!
TERMS AND CONDITIONS: This purchase is non-refundable but is transferable – please register only if you know you can attend on Friday morning before the conference officially starts. If you’re unable to attend the workshop for any reason, your spot may be sold to another attendee. Please contact me directly in that instance and I’ll adjust the class list accordingly.

Susan and I are SO excited about this year’s conference! We have so many educational and FUN things in store for you again this year. Now that the conference is getting closer (we’re 3 months out!) we are looking for A FEW GOOD VOLUNTEERS to help out during/after the conference. If you are selected as a volunteer, in return for your help we would cover your conference ticket (retail value $329). Travel and hotel accommodations are NOT included and are up to you to cover.
We are looking for volunteers for the following categories:
- Technical : Are you handy with microphones and AV equipment? Then this is the place for you.
- Hospitality : Are you a social butterfly? Like mixing and mingling with people? We are looking for volunteers to help with: registration, party hosts, speaker coordinator, and the like. If this sounds like fun then this is the place for you.
- General : General behind the scenes help. IE: stuffing swag bags, delivering items from one room to another, breaking down boxes, set up, clean up, etc. This is where we will need the bulk of help.
We will have a volunteer meeting Friday (time TBD) to give the volunteers a quick tour of the property, go over duties, expectations and answer any questions you might have.
NOTE: We welcome all applications but please ONLY apply IF you are able to attend the conference November 22-24 and are able to cover your travel and hotel accommodations.
Ready to APPLY?
Look forward to seeing you all in November!

Today we want to announce a very important role Mixed will be playing, and we need YOU as players!
Cookies For Kids Cancer
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by two OXOnians (OXO employees) inspired by their 2-year old son’s battle with cancer. It provides inspiration, ideas and support for people everywhere to help fight pediatric cancer – through the simple concept of local bake sales.z
Baking a Difference
Since the beginning, OXOnians have pledged their time and energy by baking cookies and hosting bake sales, with proceeds matched by our parent company. This year, OXO will donate up to $100,000 to support this cause so close to our hearts.
What does this mean for MIXED?
OXO has stepped in as our platinum sponsor, and those of you who filled out your Attendee form will soon be welcoming a wonderful package of OXO goodies valued at over $50 on your doorstep! There will be plenty of OXO to go around AT Mixed as well, and we are thrilled to have them on board.
What we would LOVE from you is cookies. Yes, COOKIES. OXO wants to feature YOUR winning recipes, and WE want to EAT THEM! If you are willing, please post your favorite cookie recipe on your blog by November 25, and please, link to and mention the www.oxogoodcookies.com site. Then, tweet or email us, letting us know you did, so that we can share it with OXO. The top 3 recipe posts will be featured at MIXED in a mini-bakeoff, and the winner will have a LOT of great OXO in their future! (Lucky for us attendees? WE get to judge! All of us!)
What else we would love? If you are driving (or flying, but don’t mind the extra hassle) – bring a couple dozen cookies (or more) WITH you to Mixed! We’ll have a Cookies For Kids’ Cancer Cookie Station, tins, and more – nothing says holidays like sharing baked goods! We will also be collecting donations for the Cookies For Kids’ Cancer project, and OXO will graciously be matching everything we raise.
We hope you will join us in this great cause!
